Jubbergate had the best time exploring at the Woodland Adventure Company! They made nature wands, enjoyed hot chocolate by the fire, built dens, found troll footprints and a fire breathing dragon, toasted marshmallows and watched elf rockets launch! 🚀 🔥 🪵

This week, we had a very special visit from a former pupil of Haxby Road! On Thursday, Colin Fawcett visited our school to reminisce on the times he had here as a child. Colin attended Haxby Road (or Hacca Road as he said it was commonly known) in 1937 when he was just 5 years old when he lived on Rowntree Avenue. Now, at the grand age of 94, Colin walked us around the school, met some of the pupils and staff and shared many stories about Haxby Road during the Second world war. He told us about the raids at night, his class teacher (Pop Wright). He even talked about the dairy and the classrooms where the children were required to sleep on an afternoon! Colin went on to be a pilot in the RAF and now resides in Northern Scotland. It was a fantastic experience for both the staff and the children and it is always fantastic to hear the history of our fantastic school.
